2008 saw Polaroid film suffer its much lamented extinction. Pockets of promising research have sprung up in some quarters – speculation has it that Fuji, which produces a similar colour product may start producing Polaroid instant. And then there’s the ten former Pola employees, led by Viennese entrepreneur Florian Kaps (of Lomo fame) and erstwhile Polaroid production manager Andre Bosman, at this very moment re-inventing analog instant film for vintage Polas in the old production plant in The Netherlands. Under the banner ‘The Impossible Project’ the group hope to re-start production in 2010.
