In 2009, the GoDown will roll out its artist-development program, a capacity building investment in the creative and institutional development of artists by the Centre, with the overall aim of contributing to the establishment of a robust arts sector. Artist development shall be executed in multiple ways including:
Artist-in-residence programs – where selected individual artists and artist organizations are invited for residency at the GoDown, during which time a tailored development strategy, drawn up in conjunction with the resident group/artist, to grow them towards independence and distinction in creative vision is executed.
Exchanges and collaborations – with local, regional and international network partners – (artists & organizations) – sharing relevant experience & expertise, creative co-learning, technical and organizational skilling-up.
Short courses and seminars – tailored to determined needs and may be given in collaboration with appropriate formal learning institutions.
Resource persons, mentors, etc – individuals with good network access, knowledge and time to nurture individual artists, or groups, or a discipline area.
Small grants / Creative fellowships – grants to support new works in development and selected arts management areas; and fellowships to support emerging and established artistic producers, directors with specific projects which harness and converge diverse talents within the sector to deliver exciting creative experiences.
