Reflections on Steve McCurry Myanmar Workshop » Arif’s Journeys

The first real live experience of Steve seriously shooting a portrait came by accident on day 8 where we repeated a sequence from the previous day. Steve had an idea and we went back to shoot the Intha Fishermen and I watched Steve photograph the reflections of a fisherman for 45 minutes while the fisherman sat motionless facing the sun. For Steve, there is a transitory moment which he calls the “Unguarded Moment” where (per my interpretation) the thought process of the individual being photographed stands still while they try to answer what does he want from me?
